SDG lessons with Equator

How can children help change the world? By looking, thinking, feeling — and above all: doing.

Children and young people today look at the world with a critical eye — and often have surprisingly clear ideas about it. At Equator, we make space for that perspective.

With our SDG lessons, we give teachers the tools to bring global topics into the classroom, tailored to their students.

Our approach starts from images, stories, and questions that inspire both reflection and action. Students are encouraged not only to think, but also to act — and to share their ideas via the global Equator platform. All programmes can be booked separately or combined, and are facilitated by an experienced Equator educator.

In the Classroom

These SDG lessons bring global citizenship to life, step by step.

Mayor of the World

What if children were in charge?
In this lesson, children are challenged to imagine what they would change if they were mayor of the world. Using powerful current images, they reflect on inequality, climate, peace, health, and more. Their insights and proposals are collected and linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

> Available as a single session or a five-part series.

SDG-theme in focus

After thinking comes doing.
In this session, students dive deeper into an SDG theme that speaks to them. They brainstorm, research, and plan an action in their own community.

Together with an Equator educator, they film the results, which are then shared on the Equator platform — so their voices can be heard worldwide.

> Often follows “Mayor of the World” but can also be booked separately.

SDG-game

A game that inspires thinking and action.
In the SDG Game, students are presented with questions on each goal. They think, discuss, and are each time challenged to take action.

The game is built around a workbook that brings together the question, the answer, and an action proposal. This gives the SDGs real meaning, tailored to the world of young people.

SDG toolkit

For those who want to work independently in the classroom.
Our SDG Toolkit offers a clear introduction to the 17 goals, linked to inspiring videos made by students around the world. It contains practical worksheets, teaching tips, and creative methods. Ideal for teachers who want to independently guide their class in creating an action or video, with or without a partner school.

Make kites with Equator

Let difficult topics take flight!

Want to spark a conversation about the world, diversity or sustainability? Get your class moving with a playful challenge: build a kite together!

Divide the classroom into four corners – the continents – and throw your kite towards a country in the right continent. The jury checks if it’s correct. Fun and educational!

But that’s not all…

With Equator’s paper kites, you can literally fly to the other side of the equator. Watch our videos, pick a cool design and discover how science and physics affect your kite.

Challenge your students:

Build a kite

Throw it as far as possible

Film the result and share it with Equator!

Whether you have five spare minutes or want to build a full lesson around it, it will always be a fun and meaningful experience.

Which kite will fly the farthest? We can’t wait to find out!

The Stealth Dart
Cool, fast and floats far!

The Tube
You never folded this one!

World Record Plane
This one floats the furthest!
