Project - Wecco Wacko Farm Club

Wecco Wacko Farm Club

Young people building bridges between Senegal and Flanders around climate justice.

In the Wecco Wacko Farm Club project, youth organisation Dwagulu Dekkente and global citizenship organisation Equator join forces for a unique international youth exchange between Senegal and Flanders.

Central themes include climate justice, global inequality, climate migration, and agroecology.

Many young participants take part in an intensive programme in which they not only explore these complex topics in depth, but also learn how to capture their experiences powerfully as young reporters.
They create educational videos, a compilation film, and a documentary — in collaboration with professional journalists.

These audiovisual stories form the heart of a travelling exhibition and interactive film screenings.

During these public events, the young people deliver their message themselves — in their own words — to a wide audience.

In doing so, they aim to raise awareness, inspire others to take action, and make the importance of international solidarity and cooperation tangible.

The project is driven by both Flemish and Senegalese partners and places young people at the centre — as storytellers, connectors, and catalysts for change.

Our objective

The Wecco Wacko Farm Clubproject is made possible thanks to the support of Connect for Global Change, a European funding program that focuses on raising awareness and driving behavioral change around global challenges. This grant supports initiatives that encourage young people – in this case in Flanders – to actively engage in building a fair and sustainable world.

However, this funding alone is not enough to realize the entire project. We want to bring it to a strong conclusion, with lasting impact – both for the young people and volunteers from Flanders who will travel to Senegal, and for our local partners on the ground.

That’s why we are looking for additional financial support. Your contribution helps to:

  • make the exchange with young people in Senegal possible;

  • finalize the audiovisual products (documentary, exhibition, educational materials);

  • provide fair compensation for all partners;

  • and expand the reach of this project, so it can touch and inspire even more people.

Together, we can make sure this story is heard.
