Interacting Schools

Schools Working Together

Global citizenship in practice – with school-to-school projects – built on genuine connection.

Two schools or two classrooms, two worlds. They can grow into one shared story.

Collaboration Between Schools Worldwide

Sometimes it’s two schools building a lasting bond. Sometimes it’s several schools working together on a shared theme, possibly with the support of an external partner.
There’s no fixed formula — just a shared enthusiasm for learning from each other, from different corners of the world.

Collaboration between schools leads to powerful learning moments. Sometimes it flows easily, sometimes it comes with trial and error — but that too is part of the learning process, for both students and teachers.

The Twin Schools Approach is a well-known form of global collaboration:
two (or more) schools commit to working together on a theme, with one or more classes or entire departments. They embark on a joint project and build a real exchange.

A twin project is not just a lesson. It’s an experience that stays with you.

What is a Twin Schools Project?

Equator connects primary and secondary school classes with a partner school elsewhere in the world.
Not just casual pen pals, but a real exchange — driven by themes that matter to young people: climate, culture, children’s rights, food production, and more.

Together, they create a shared project.

Equator guides the schools in selecting themes, defining learning goals, and agreeing on time, resources, and working methods.
This creates a clear, achievable, and meaningful journey for everyone involved.

At first I thought: global citizenship, that’s something big and abstract. But through contact with our partner school, it became real. Our students were so curious – they asked smart questions, made videos, and suddenly looked at the world and each other with different eyes.

How We Work

  • Classes collaborate on parallel sub-projects within the school year.

  • Stories, videos, creative assignments, or joint actions form the basis of the exchange.

  • Each participating school has access to its own online space on the platform, where students share videos and get to know one another.

  • Equator provides teaching ideas, facilitates the process, and ensures continuity — online or in the classroom.

Whether you choose letters, video messages, art, interviews, or a joint action: the format is up to you — the connection grows along the way.

The Power of Exchange

Students discover similarities and differences in an honest, curious, and respectful way.
They step outside their own bubble and learn to think in terms of we, instead of us and them.
Step by step, they grow into young global citizens — with an eye for each other and for what’s happening elsewhere.

The results? They’re visible. In the classroom, at school, and beyond.
In words, images, art, and concrete action.

And ultimately, all participating schools become part of a growing network of engaged partner schools — that value meeting over judging, and connection over division.
